Red Ginseng

Ginseng itself is widely known as the most perfect herb.  There are three different species of ginseng, one of which is Red Ginseng.  Red Ginseng is a natural ginseng product first used in Asia to prevent and treat a variety of illnesses and dysfunctions.  This form of ginseng is regarded as the best and most effective form of ginseng.  Red Ginseng or Hong Ren Shen is red in color resulting from a customary steaming process.  Because this type of ginseng is steamed, it provides a warming effect of the body when taken.

All three ginseng types are comprised of ginsenosides.  The composition of ginsenosides varies according to the type of ginseng and therefore varies the effects of the ginseng.  Red Ginseng has three times the amount of ginsenosides that the other species of ginseng for a total of twenty-four ginsenosides.  Some ginsenosides are known for activating the nervous system while others work to calm it.  Certain ginsenosides increase metobolic rates while others decrease it.  Because of Red Ginseng’s warming effect, it is known to stimulate both the nervous system and the body’s ability to metabolize nutrients.  Asian Ginseng is available in its natural form as White Ginseng or in its steam treated form of Red Ginseng.  Red Ginseng is naturally warm and henceforth prescribed to people who have cold sensations in their body.  Read the rest of this entry »

Panax Ginseng is part of the American Ginseng family but it is not similar to it.  Panax Ginseng is found in Asia.  Those they both contain ginsenoside Rg1, Panax Ginseng has higher levels.  Ginsenosides are a steroid-like substance responsible for building strength in supporting the immune system.  Panax is known as an adaptogen.  Adaptogens are credited with causing the body to adapt to and cope with physical and mental stress.  It has been used in Asian countries for thousands of years to treat everything from anxiety to certain cancers as well as heart related maladies. The steroid like qualities of the ginsenosides found in Panax are used to treat immune deficiencies that produce the flu or common cold.  It is also used by diabetics suffering from Type 2 diabetes to lower blood sugar and cholesterol.  Panax has a soothing quality and is therefore given to people suffering from asthma or other lung illnesses.  The Panax Ginseng works to relax the lungs and make breathing easier.

Panax Ginseng can be taken orally or through topical application.  Topical application is used by men to increase sexual performance and erections.  The extract is applied topically to the male genitalia.  The Panax is believed to increase sexual hormone activity.  Due to its ability to mimic the female hormone estrogen, Panax is used by women to increase sexual desire, ease menopausal symptoms and increase the production of healthy breast cell development though more research needs to be performed on the last statement in order to verify claims.  Because of its affects on hormones, Panax is commonly added to sports drinks and activity enhancing supplements.  Read the rest of this entry »

Has your performance in the bedroom declined?  Are you having a harder time obtaining and maintaining an erection required to promote sexual satisfaction?  You may be suffering from erectile dysfunction.  You’ve seen the treatments advertised for those suffering from erectile dysfunction such as Viagra and Cialis.  And while these products may work, side effects such as a prolonged erection or increase in heart rate may scare you off from taking these drugs.  Korean Red Ginseng is a natural Ginseng product used in Asia to treat sexual dysfunctions.  Many choose to take Korean Red Ginseng, a natural remedy, over the chemical products available because it is less costly, more readily available and has fewer side effects.  The recommended dosage of five hundred milligrams of Korean Red Ginseng costs less than ten cents as compared to one tablet of Viagra which runs about ten dollars.

In a Korean urology clinic, a study of forty-five men with an average age of fifty-four was conducted.  These men suffered from erectile dysfunction as defined as the lack of ability to obtain and maintain an erection necessary for satisfactory sexual performance.  Participants in the study were divided into two groups, those that received a placebo to treat their problem and those that were given Korean Red Ginseng to treat their erectile dysfunction.  The study lasted eight weeks wherein the participants were tested based on the blood flow in their penis, the size of their penis and the firmness.  The results showed that those who were treated with Korean Red Ginseng had improved levels of obtaining and maintaining an erection as well as an increased desire for sexual activity.  During the study testosterone levels were tested and results showed that those who consumed Korean Red Ginseng did not have increased levels of testosterone levels in their body.  As a conclusion from this finding, it is noted that Korean Red Ginseng does not affect hormones in the body but rather increases sexual ability by targeting the nervous system.
